Senior houses and nursing homes helping blind and visually impaired to navigate and live in more freely, are being constructed in the western part of Copenhagen. The project consists of 26 senior houses and 95 nursing homes.
The entire building complex will house fitness, wellness, hairdresser and dentist facilities. The complex will be an all-encompassing living facility for Copenhagen’s older citizens, creating a living area where the residents can help themselves and live more freely. There will be outdoor gardens with different smells, and overall the building both outdoor and indoor, is created to use all the senses – for experiencing, navigating and living. All walls are made to navigate by hand bars on the walls, and the layout is planned to eliminate confusing dead-ends and nooks to navigate through.
A different and thoughtful project, tailored to its users’ needs and capabilities. The projects vision is to create Europe’s best nursing home, and this ambitious project will be completed in 2018.
The architects behind the design are Cubo Architects in consortium with Force4. NCC are responsible for the construction with Krabbenhøft & Ingolfsson as consulting engineers. The leading engineer is SWECO
