Time history analysis
A majority of civil engineering structures are designed based on the assumption that acceleration and velocity is negligible, hence leaving only static events to be governing. However, many structures experience dynamic loading thus driving the need to consider velocity and acceleration.
Conducting simulations in Abaqus for the Landgangen bridge opening section in Esbjerg, it was possible for our engineers to verify the design with respect to fatigue. By simulating the opening sequence of the bridge, in a dynamic analysis, the dynamic amplification factor was extracted based on the time-history results.
