The project:
Moesgaard Museum (momu) is an archaeological and historical museum close to Aarhus, Denmark. The museum offers a journey in to the past with special emphasis on the time of the vikings and how the area has changed since then.
The building is designed with sustainability in mind. The green south-facing rooftop absorbs both heat and rainwater while protecting the exhibitions from direct sunlight. The use of underground rooms as well as well-chosen materials makes the museum blend in very well with the surroundings.
Moesgaard museum has become a tourist attraction both nationally and internationally. The museum has received two stars from the Michelin travelers guide due to both its exhibitions and its interesting architecture and beautiful surroundings.
The participants:
Henning Larsen Architects and landscape architect Kirstine Jensen as well as COWI and Krabbenhøft & Ingolfsson as consulting engineers.
